„Nowa Trybuna Opolska" (NTO) is the most popular newspaper in opolskie voivodeship and the only regional daily published in the voivodeship.
Gazeta gathers residents of opolskie voivodeship around important initiatives. This role played by NTO was stressed particularly powerfully when it became involved in assistance to flood victims in 1997 and the campaign to protect opolskie voivodeship in 1998. From 2002 to 2003 the daily gained the opinion of an independent and courageous one, by uncovering the corruptive arrangements within top regional authorities. The editorial office of the daily pursues campaigns activating the residents of the voivodeship to work for the benefit of small communities („Róbmy swoje" [“Let’s get on with our business”]), and among elites of the region it searched for an answer to the question of what to do with the growing threat of employment emigration to the West („Dajmy sobie szansę" [“Let’s give ourselves a chance”]). Through poviat mutations, NTO tries to be as close to the readers as possible. The daily is strongly rooted in the traditions of Opolszczyzna region, which is a multicultural region. It presents problems of German minority, describes the life at the Polish-Czech border.
„Nowa Trybuna Opolska" was established in January 1952 (at that time under the name of „Trybuna Opolska"). It has been published under the current name since April 1993.
